Kids Just Wanna Have Fun!

When most people think of a Disney Cruise, it's a no-brainer that they assume it's all about the kids. While that's not entirely true (and I'll get to that another day), the ships offer some amazing activities and amenities for the little ones!

Let's start with the littlest cruisers! For those under age 3 (and not potty trained). On the Disney Fantasy, Dream and Magic you'll find the It's A Small World nursery while on the Disney Wonder you'll find  Flounder's Reef Nursery.

Little ones must be aged 3 months to 3 years and there is a small fee for use of the nursery.

  • $9.00 per hour for first child
  • $8.00 per hour for second child in the same family
Cancellations may be made without penalty up to 4 hours in advance of reservation.

Reservations can be made in advance up to a certain number of hours (Dependent on the length of your cruise). I HIGHLY recommend booking these in advance as they can fill up quickly. Once onboard you can always stop in to see if additional hours are available. It really depends on how busy your cruise is. When we sailed to Mexico with our daughter, we ended up being quite a few hours.

Remember to bring anything your little one needs...and don't forget to label it all! We usually dopped her off with her blanket, binkies, a bottle, etc. The staff was SO amazing I wouldn't hesitate to use the nursery again!

And don't think the little ones are left out of the magic!  One of my favorite moments onboard our daughters first cruise happened when we weren't even with her!  We had gone down to the lobby to have her meet Snow White (and other princesses).  When she walked up to Snow White she said, "Why Kennedy! It's lovely to see you again!!".  We were SHOCKED! How Did Snow White know our daughter? Well it turns out earlier that day Snow White and Cinderella stopped by the nursery and spent time with the babies!!

Now for the older kids!  Depending on the ship you are sailing, the kids will have a few options! All the ships include 4 distinct areas:

  • Oceaneer Club and Lab (Both ages 3-12*)
  • Edge (ages 11-14)
  • Vibe (ages 14-17)

*All children must be potty trained!

The Youth Clubs are typically open 9 a.m. to midnight each day.  While many allow for various forms of "free" play, be sure to check your Personal Navigator for specific activities like Tinkerbell's Talent Show, Super Sloppy Science with Professor Make-O-Mess and So You Want To Be a Pirate?. There is more
than enough activities to keep the kids busy no matter the length of your cruise.

While some of the kids clubs allow the kids to go back and forth between clubs rest assured everything is very secured! All kids under age 8 must be signed in and out by a parent.  Kids older than 8 can have parents sign a permission slip which would allow then to sign themselves out.

For both nursery and youth clubs, a password is required to release children to their parents. Lunch and Dinner is also provided in the Youth Clubs if Mom and Dad want to have a meal alone (or if the kids just don't want to leave!)

For the slightly older kids, there is the Edge (11-14) and the Vibe (14-17).    These spaces are designed especially for teens.

On the Dream and Fantasy the Vibe has both indoor and outdoor spaces!!

While the teen clubs are JUST for teens, rest assured they are full chaperoned :)

Remember...there is NO extra cost for the Youth Clubs!  These are spaces just for your kids to enjoy as often (or not) as they'd like! Be sure to check your Personal Navigator each night to see what activities your kids want to do, what there is for adults, and what activities everyone wants to do as a family! Disney Cruise vacations are as customizable as you'd like!
