Graduation Celebration- Selecting a Stateroom

I'll be putting together for this trip a bit different than in the past :) I'm going to post about a few different topics instead of in a consecutive/date type order.

When I asked my husband where he wanted to vacation for his graduation present, he immediately said a Disney Cruise to Alaska. We toyed with a few different ideas before finally deciding on a few days at Walt Disney World followed by a 4-night Bahamian Cruise. We knew we wanted to be on a newer ship and while we'd love to sail for 7-nights, the shorter cruises allowed our friends to travel with us AND allowed us to visit Walt Disney World.

Did we mention the kids are staying home? Oh ya...this is a grown up kinda of celebration filled with staying up late, roller coasters and a few adult beverages!

Back to the planning! The cruise was the first thing we settled on. We chatted with friend on what dates would work for everyone, as well as what fit everyone's budget. Here is what we picked!

4-night Bahamian Cruise
Disney Dream
Itinerary A

Once you've decided on the sailing you'd like, you have to decide on a stateroom! Here are your options (I'm keeping it pretty basic).

Rooms vary between the Disney Wonder/Magic and Dream/Fantasy but the basics remain the same.

Inside Rooms
These rooms are...as you guessed, INSIDE. They don't have exterior windows and are the smallest rooms on the ship. Standard rooms are slightly smaller than Deluxe and only have one bath (vs. the split bath's the rest of the ship has). These sleep 3-4 and have a Queen bed, pullout sofa and pull down bunk.

Oceanview Room
Ok now take your inside room, stretch it a bit, give it a split bath and add a window (sometimes 1 big window, other times 2 small windows).  These rooms give you a bit of natural light as well as a great view with out the price of a verandah.  These come in 2 sizes; standard and family. The family Oceanview rooms are a little larger. These staterooms sleep 3-5

Veranadah
Verandah rooms are the largest of the non-suite rooms and also come in standard and family size. There are a variety of sizes and balcony types based on your category. They all have split baths and sleep 4-5. There are also verandah rooms with concierge amenities.

Suites
All suites are concierge level and range 1 to 2 bedrooms suites...there is even a ROYAL suite!

This was just meant as an overview but each family has different needs.  As 2 adults traveling on a budget, we chose an inside room. We love having a balcony, especially when traveling without our kids, but on a short trip we won't be in the room much anyway. We decided for this sailing we just need a bed to lay our head and will have fun spending our money on other things (which I'll take about in another post!)

It's time to Celebrate!

It's that time again...trip planning time! I'm excited to take you along for this trip as it's kind of special. Well, not kind of special...REALLY special!! We will be celebrating!!

Family Photos

This post is brought to you by one of my clients Stacey! We'll be updating it next month with photos!

Each time we go to Disney, we try to come up with something new to do. One evening, my husband mentioned that it had been a while since we had family photographs taken. We decided to book a photo session through Disney Fine Art Photography during our upcoming Walt Disney World vacation. What could be better than family photos in our happy place?!

Happiness is...Pizza!

When I first met my husband, there was one VERY important thing I had  to learn about him. His love for pizza! So when we decided to get married and have children of our own, having pizza at least one night a week has become a regular item on our dinner menus.

This past year, our kids were finally at the perfect age (At least for us, anyway!) to plan our first “all-out” Walt Disney World vacation! Since it was our first trip with all four of us, we opted to do just the Quick-Service dining plan. While the Quick-Service dining plan did not disappoint, my husband’s
one request was to at least have one really nice sit down meal together. When he began to research, he came across Via Napoli Ristorante e Pizzeria in Epcot and he knew he could not resist making a reservation. Perfectly enough they had reservations available for us the day we would be in Epcot. So without hesitation the reservation was made.

DISNEY SPRINGS NEW PARKING GARAGE

While traffic is still a huge mess on Buena Vista Drive, Disney continues to make progress on the parking situation at Disney Springs. We visited twice recently and were very pleased with the new Orange Garage located in front of the AMC Movie Theater. The picture below shows the available parking spaces on each floor. It looks like floor 5 was not open, and a sign inside said that floor 4 was for employees. The 429 is the number of open spaces on floor 4. The digital display wasn’t very camera friendly and didn’t show the full number of spots on floors 2 and 3 as well as the “O” in Open but to the naked eye it’s very nice.

Head straight to the fun!
