A Very Dapper Girls Getaway Trip Recap - Trader Sams and Kona Cafe Review

One of the highlights of this trip was definitely going to be a visit to check out the new Polynesian Lobby as well as Trader Sams, followed by dinner at Kona Cafe. This visit was a trip of new experiences and while I have been to Kona Cafe, it was about 6 years ago.
After a quick rest at our resort, we changed our clothes and headed out to the Polynesian.

The new lobby was GORGEOUS!! I  love how open and airy it feels, but it still feels like the Polynesian. Once all the renovations are done, this resort is going back at the top of my recommended resort list!

After a quick walk around, we headed downstairs to Trader Sams. As we were approaching the door a man walked up to us and asked if we were a party of 2 or 3. They had a pager but couldn't wait anymore. What luck!!  We only waited a few minutes before we were buzzed!
The bar was PACKED but we quickly grabbed some seats at the bar and ordered our drinks.  I will give a few words of warning...
1) Be sure you leave plenty of time to enjoy this bar. We felt a bit rushed since we had dinner reservations to get to. I wish we had done dinner FIRST. Service was a tad bit slow but the bar was packed so it wasn't unreasonable.
2) If you are looking for a QUIET place to grab a drink this is not it. This place is loud, and fun and semi-interactive, so....bring your friends!!
We grabbed a few drinks and just really enjoyed the atmosphere...the drinks were pretty fantastic too!!

Unfortunately we didn't have much time to hang out so we headed back upstairs for our dinner!
We started out with an appetizer of Sticky Wings...I'll definitely be bringing my husband back here because these were YUMMY!!
Lauren ordered Grilled Curry-crusted Lamb Chops  with Roasted Fingerling Potatoes, Swiss Chard, and Mango Compote.

Grilled New York Strip Steak ( served with roasted fingerling potatoes, seasonal vegetables, and molasses-bacon butter)...Can we just talk about that for a second? Molasses BACON butter. It was to DIE for. I was not a fan of the veggies as they had some kind of spice (HOT) on them.

Since we were on the dining plan we ordered dessert although we knew we wouldn't eat the WHOLE thing. Lauren ordered a Banana Chocolate Creme Brulee while I had the chocolate lava cake (DREAMY...and not pictured).
After dinner we decide to check out the outdoor area of Trader Sam's.  This area was MUCH quieter and I definitely preferred  the inside bar. There was a nice man playing ukulele and a gorgeous waterfall in the background. It was a nice relaxing end to our day!
