Port Orleans French Quarter Review (December 2014)

We went through several resort's before we finally decided on Port Orleans French Quarter (including Art of Animation and Caribbean Beach).  Ultimately we decided that the location and small size of this resort was the perfect choice for our family!

We checked in pretty early, around 10:30 a.m. Even though check-in isn't until later in the afternoon, you can check-in anytime to activate your Magic Bands. I had done online check-in so it only took a few moments and were all set. We were told our room was connecting with my parents but they weren't ready yet.  We decided to walk around the resort a bit and take the boat to Downtown Disney.

She had been waiting for months to see these guys!

Off to Downtown Disney! Remember the boat stops at French Quarter, then Riverside. This saves you almost 10 minutes in travel time!

After a little shopping at a very crowded Downtown Disney, we asked if our room was ready as Kennedy was feeling very under the weather.  They informed us that our room wasn't ready but they could find us one that was. When I mentioned that I didn't want to lose our connecting room they said we didn't have one!

While they were very accommodating it took about 40 minutes to find us a room that was ready and connecting...all while we had to keep the kids busy in the lobby.  Finally they had a room for us and we set out to find it! We had a little bit of pixie dust and were given an amazing location! We were at the end of Building 4, closes to the food court (2nd floor). We couldn't ask for a better location! We were close to the pool, food court, parking lot and buses!

We had spent the night before at Pop Century and while I won't be doing a review separately, lets just say that will be our last value stay while the kids are little. This room was considerably bigger and just logistically set up better. The Moderates have 2 Queens instead of doubles, double sinks and a bit more space to put all our stuff.  We LOVED this room!

So what else did we love about the resort? The pool! Kennedy even did the slide all by herself!  It was a nice size...not too big and never overcrowded. There is also a kiddie pool and a hot tub (that my parents used several times).

We walked the resort on more than one occasion with a sleepy baby. It's just so quiet and peaceful here, not to mention intimate. Quite the opposite feeling from staying at a Value resort. I could hang out here all day!

Warning...photo overload!

During an afternoon nap we even took some photos because this resort is just so beautiful!

Final Recap
So long story short...hands down I would say this is our favorite moderate level resort. It's quiet and personal. We love EVERYTHING about this resort.  I think runner up would be a tie between Riverside and Coronado...we like the amenities and rooms at both of those resorts but they are much larger.  We also loved the location.....we got everywhere in less than 15 minutes.  Hands down we would stay here over and over again!
